Established in 2015 by the founder of Faliro House, Christos V. Konstantakopoulos, Oxbelly aims to explore new avenues of communication between regional cinemas. Every last week of June, in Costa Navarino, Greece, Oxbelly and its sponsors host an invitation-only, family-inclusive gathering of filmmakers and film lovers from around the world. Through labs, talks and dinners, this cross-cultural event presents its guests with a limitless platform for the emergence of new ideas and partnerships, all within a schedule designed to allow for the enjoyment of the Messinian summer.

Dates: To Be Determined

The Oxbelly Screenwriters Lab seeks to support strong, exceptional narratives in all genres, by emerging filmmakers internationally with an emphasis on the Mediterranean region.

The lab is curated to offer 8-10 screenwriters (fellows) the opportunity to work on their first or second feature film scripts, on close cooperation with their established colleagues (advisors). Over ten days, each fellow will have four, 2-3hr. meetings with four separate advisors, as well as attend group workshops and panels/masterclasses, presented by filmmakers, producers, sales agents, festival programmers, and other industry professionals.

Directors Lab

In tandem with the Screenwriters Lab, the Directors Lab supports the fellows as they direct a scene from their scripts. The fellows get the chance to cast the scene prior to the lab, then storyboard it shot-by-shot, shoot it and edit it at the lab, accompanied by a casting director, DoP and editor accordingly. Their paired advisors observe and advise during the process until the scenes are ready to be screened and discussed amongst all lab participants. The Directors Lab aims at preparing the fellows for the challenge of fleshing out their ideas and conveying the emotions from the page to the audience.

Please note: The Directors Lab is accessible only to fellows attending the Screenwriters Lab; that includes writers planning on directing their own project and writer-director teams.
